BIODIVERSITY FOR EARTH PROGRAM

image

Biodiversity on Earth refers to the variety of species living in various ecosystems that is linked to Earth’s dynamic system – atmosphere (air), hydrosphere (water) and geosphere (land).  The Earth or “humus” in Latin means “humility”.  Primarily, we are to grow to respect and love all species on Earth.

BIODIVERSITY – EXPLORE MARINE LIFE!

Explore, observe and discover the significance of biodiversity in our marine ecosystems: plankton, coral reef, sea stars and others. Build knowledge and understanding of Earth’s dynamic system – biosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere and exosphere. Other key topics include Earth timelines, water cycles. Enjoy a field trip to UBC Biodiversity museum and other interesting water-related ecosystems. Learn to be proactive in Biodiversity in your own community! Fun, interesting tactile bio-activities (Science). Create your own book or website on Biodiversity. Grow in respect and love for Earth – marine life in oceans.

Enjoy Biodiversity and Recreation!!

Explore water cycle through hiking at Cypress and Grouse, running along the waters of Stanley Park and Point Grey; and paddling in the waters of False Creek in British Columbia.  The selection or choice of marine ecosystems differ in each community or country and subject to changes from time to time.

British Columbia:

Week 1:   Cypress Provincial Park

Week 2:   Grouse mountain, salmon hatchery and Capilano reservoir.

Week 3:   Stanley park – beach and lagoon ecosystems

Week 4:   False Creek waters – dragon boat paddling activity or others

Week 5:   UBC Beaty Biodiversity Museum

BIODIVERSITY FOR EARTH PROGRAM

The Earth constitutes, creates and conserves life!  Life is a miracle – a phenomena – creation unfolds in a constant spawning and sprouting, growing and declining, sustaining and surviving, effecting in extinction and procreation of ancient, current and prototype of diverse species on planet Earth under dramatic atmospheric, climatic, aquatic and geological conditions in Earth timelines.

Biodiversity on Earth refers to the complex diversity of species in a variety of ecosystems – oceans, rivers, estuaries, forests, and mountains – linking to Earth’s dynamic system from exosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, geosphere to biosphere.  The sun’s energy and light, the intrinsic values of elements of the Earth, via photosynthesis, evolve ancient species of cynobacteria, phytoplankton and terrestrial plants, to generate a thriving planet Earth.  This is the paradigm shift – the phenomenon of life on Earth.

Inspiration: “Truth springs forth from the Earth” – Psalm 85

Explore and Discover Biodiversity on Earth

Natural and Physical:

  • Explore, observe, evaluate and discover the significance of biodiversity in our various ecosystems
  • Expand the vast and fascinating world of marine life in oceans – plankton (main source of oxygen), coral reef, sea stars, sea otters, whales, sharks and others
  • Experiment process of photosynthesis:  sunlight + air (CO2) + aqua species = oxygen + food
  • Rediscover the ancient era of cynobacteria, phytoplankton, terrestrial plants (lichen, ferns), and microbes
  • Review Earth’s dynamic system – exosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, geosphere and biosphere.
  • Re-evaluate Earth timelines – sustainability and conservation on Earth

Field trips:  UBC Beaty Biodiversity museum, Cypress mountain and other interesting ecosystems in British Columbia.  The choice of ecosystems differs in each province, state and country.

Website: Create your voice in blogs, poems or story, and illustrations (photos, sketches and paintings) on Biodiversity on Earth.  Be proactive in Biodiversity!  Enrich your life – grow to love and respect all species and its roles on Earth – influencing peace and harmony on Earth.
